Prioritize the outgoing document

The 7001 is a more natural choice for a desk where printing is regular but incoming paper capture is limited. Its 250-sheet tray provides a useful step up in loading capacity, and automatic duplex supports longer documents without manual page turning. These are everyday conveniences rather than glamorous specification lines. Consider how often your existing printer runs out of paper during a job. If refilling is a repeated interruption, tray capacity can improve the working routine more directly than a small difference in rated print speed.

The missing feeder is significant

This model uses a flatbed scanner, so a stack of originals still needs individual placement. That is acceptable for an occasional signed letter, photograph or page from a book. It is a poor match for daily batches of multipage contracts, even though the printed output side looks office oriented. Compare the 7301 if the feeder would genuinely save time. Do not assume that a larger paper cassette also means more automated scanning: the input tray for blank paper and the feeder for originals perform separate jobs.

Judge the tank economics honestly

HP specifies up to 15 black and 9 color ISO pages per minute and a recommended monthly range of 400 to 800 pages. Use your actual page count when estimating the value of refillable ink, with special attention to how much color work is included. A household that prints infrequently may not realize the benefit quickly. For regular documents, compare local bottle costs, available service and the planned ownership period. Keep paper and reprints in the budget, and avoid interpreting a maximum duty cycle as a recommended everyday target.

A focused shortlist recommendation

The 7001 is a coherent option when a regular printing workload needs tanks, duplex and a larger cassette, while scanning remains occasional. It is less coherent if the office already needs fax or automated multipage capture, because those tasks will require other equipment. Verify local model configuration and compatible supplies rather than comparing bundles across countries as though they were identical. Also measure the operating position with the output path extended. A printer's useful capacity should reduce interruptions without taking more of the workspace than its real workload justifies.
