Choose for recurring coursework and keep a tested fallback for important deadlines.
List the coursework you print
Start with a typical term: essays, lecture notes, diagrams or portfolio work. If most material is submitted digitally, occasional access to a shared printer may be enough. If you print regularly, estimate pages and color use before choosing an ink system.
Make small spaces workable
Measure the desk with trays open and leave access to the scanner. Check support for the laptop or tablet you use, and confirm how a shared or managed accommodation network handles printers. A suitable direct connection may simplify a personal desk setup.
Prepare before the deadline
Keep the correct paper and supplies available, and print a short proof before a major submission. Check page order, margins, duplex orientation and any formatting requirements. Save a finished PDF and know where an alternative printer is available if needed.
