The quick take

Compare matching ratings and choose a quality mode that suits the finished page.

Compare the same measurement

Keep normal ISO figures separate from draft-mode claims. Compare black output with black output and color with color. Duplex speeds may use images per minute, which counts printed sides, so read the label before putting two numbers side by side.

Think about your job length

For a single form, wake-up and first-page time can matter more than a sustained throughput figure. For long batches, tray capacity and uninterrupted printing become more relevant. Large images and higher quality settings can also change the actual time a job takes.

Keep an appropriate quality preset

Choose a readable everyday setting for routine documents, then use a suitable higher-quality mode for photos or presentation work. Proof a representative page before a batch. The fastest mode is only useful when it produces output you can actually use.
