A long print run succeeds when the paper, supplies and proof are ready before it starts.
Count pages and printed sides
Estimate the recurring workload and compare it with recommended monthly volumes. Keep a note of black and color output separately. A regular stack of color charts may make supply costs more important than the printer’s initial price.
Prepare one representative proof
Check a test print for margins, scaling, page order and color before releasing the whole job. Test the intended duplex setting as well. Catching a clipped footer on one sheet is easier than replacing the entire batch after it has finished.
Support the whole run
Have suitable paper and correct replacement supplies available. Respect input and output capacities, and divide unusually large jobs into manageable batches. For frequent sustained work, compare service options and replenishment effort alongside rated throughput.
