The quick take

A stable location and properly stored paper are useful parts of printer care.

Choose a stable, accessible surface

Place the printer on a level surface with enough room for trays, cables and scanner access. Keep the surrounding area clear so loading paper does not disturb the machine. Follow the manual’s clearance and ventilation instructions for the exact product.

Check the environmental limits

The manufacturer lists operating and storage conditions for each model. Avoid assuming an unused garage or a sunlit windowsill is suitable. If the printer has been stored elsewhere, consult the setup guidance before putting it back into service.

Give the paper similar care

Store paper flat and protected from moisture, dirt and damage. If feeding becomes inconsistent, inspect the stack for curling or sticking sheets before changing printer settings. Use supported media and avoid overfilling the tray.
