DeskJet: begin with everyday tasks

Look closely at paper capacity and duplex. If you routinely produce long documents or need borderless photos, check those requirements before choosing a basic home model.

ENVY: put home creativity on the list

Check supported photo sizes, borderless options and cartridge arrangement. A home photo feature set can be convenient, but it should not be mistaken for a specialist photographic printing system.

OfficeJet: examine the document workflow

OfficeJet and OfficeJet Pro put useful office features within reach, including separate inks and, on selected models, Ethernet, fax or automatic two-sided scanning. The family contains different configurations.

For example, a print-only model cannot scan simply because another OfficeJet can. Compare functions, feeder behavior and networking line by line before moving up the range.

Smart Tank: choose the supply system deliberately

Smart Tank models use refillable ink reservoirs. Consider them when you print regularly enough to benefit from bottle replenishment, then check the mechanical features just as carefully as you would on a cartridge printer.
