Canon PIXMA TR4720 review

A useful list at a modest pace

The TR4720 combines several administrative functions that can be helpful even when used infrequently. A feeder is convenient for an application packet, while fax may serve an occasional legacy process. Its stated black and color document rates should keep expectations grounded. If several people need substantial jobs at the same time, the cost of waiting may matter more than the convenience of having all these functions in one unit.

Duplex is about documents

Automatic two-sided printing can make short reference packs easier to prepare. That does not tell you how two-sided originals are scanned, or whether a specialty paper can use the same automatic route. Read the media and scanning instructions for your particular job. Household buyers often need only a few common workflows; confirming those is more useful than collecting capabilities that are never tested against real tasks.

Look carefully at color spending

The cartridge arrangement combines separate black with a tri-color supply. That can suit light, varied use, but a household printing frequent color worksheets should compare it with separate-color or tank alternatives. Use locally available replacement prices and think in terms of a year of work. The lowest initial printer price, where available, is only one part of the ownership calculation and should not decide the purchase alone.

Our recommendation

Consider the TR4720 for small household jobs where fax and a document feeder genuinely help. Canon’s current store page indicates changed direct availability, so verify the exact model, consumables and support before purchasing remaining stock. This assessment is based on published specifications. We have not timed output, tested phone-line behavior or measured print quality, and we do not present its feature list as evidence of office-class throughput.
