A modest feeder can still help
A twenty-page feeder is enough to make a short application packet or a small set of correspondence less laborious than individual flatbed placement. Its role is occasional household administration, not an invitation to feed every original without checking. Keep fragile items on the flatbed and follow the supported-media instructions. The right capacity is the one that fits the actual batch you receive, rather than the largest available number.
Separate colors offer a choice
The individual ink cartridges let the user replace a depleted color without necessarily changing the others. That can suit varied projects, although the arrangement alone does not prove lower running cost. Compare the full set and the colors your household uses most often. If worksheets or flyers are becoming a weekly volume task, a higher-yield cartridge or refill system deserves a separate ownership calculation.
Do not confuse print and scan duplex
Automatic two-sided printing is useful for ordinary reading material. Brother lists no duplex scanning, so incoming double-sided originals still require attention. Consider both directions of the paperwork routine before choosing. Also check how everyone will send jobs from their devices; a printer that is easy for one person to use may become a support chore if the rest of the household has never completed setup.
Our recommendation
Shortlist the MFC-J1010DW for modest mixed home use where its administrative functions have a purpose. A larger document machine or a tank may be more appropriate as output grows. This assessment uses exact-model manufacturer specifications and editorial judgment. We have not measured photograph quality, wireless reliability, cartridge life or print speed with a physical unit, and we do not claim that compact dimensions alone make it the best fit for every small desk.
